Biography

Shogo Kawamura works in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and software engineering, holding a BSc in Agriculture and a PhD in Biostudies from Kyoto University (2023), supported from 2021 to 2023 by a Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows (DC2, 21J15550).

The main contributions are the MarpolBase and MarpolBase Expression databases and the ancestral gibberellin-related pathway of the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha, where a SABATH-family enzyme was shown to regulate development. Related work spans a GRAS transcription factor mediating far-red light responses, the sex-determining factor, and deep-learning analysis of morphological variation, with papers in The Plant Cell, Current Biology, and Plant and Cell Physiology.

Since 2023, Shogo Kawamura has been a researcher and engineer at Preferred Networks, working on machine learning while continuing to collaborate on liverwort genome projects.
